Take Your Own Advice
Actually listen to what you’re saying
Being a blogger and a writer I find myself giving others advice on how to achieve certain things. Before the estblishment of this site, I had another blog I was running, which I won’t disclose as of now. It was primarily based around the same niche of “Online Business and Website Development”, so I pretty much wrote out thousands of words worth of website promotion methods, backlink building and even potential marketing tactics.
The thing is, a lot of what I was writing was just regurgitated knowledge that had been left at the back of my brain to rot. For the most part I never actually did any of the things I told other people to do and although they work great in theory and have proved successful in the past, I seem to forget a lot of what I’m saying.
The reason why this post came about is because I have a few new website projects that I’m trying to get off the ground and I couldn’t think of any new innovative ways to promote them and then hit me. ”Hey, Eric”, I said to myself “Why don’t you read over your previous posts, I’m sure you had some valuable information buried amongst the midst of all that text”.
To put it simply I’m going to start listening to myself and I believe you should to. If you have a theory or an idea, put it into practice and see how it turns out. Don’t sit back and preach your theory, because although you may be sitting on a goldmine you could just as likely be sitting on a dud. I remember a while back I wrote a post on the methods I use to promote my websites, it was fairly successful because I really believed I knew what I was talking about (not to say I was wrong), I’m going to go back and investigate my ancient thoughts and see how it all pans out.
